I cannot stress sufficiently how much I owe Mr. Arzoglou for his professional approach and totally sucessful outcome to my neurosurgical problem. I consider myself extremely fortunate to have been a patient of his, and his team. They have given back to me the freedom of movement that I have lacked for some years. The advice given to me and the care from the whole of the Hull Infirmary team was without question exemplary throughout the whole hospital visit and beyond. My gratitude is beyond words however I would thank Hull Infirmary in sincerity for their care and expertise. PB

I first met Mr Arzoglou at H.R.I. where I had been transferred from York District Hospital. I had had two previous operations on my back following a road accident several years ago and was experiencing acute pain and loss of sensation. He explained in detail what was now wrong with my back and what was causing the pain. I was given the option to have immediate surgery, done by one of his team, just to relieve the compression; or to have elective surgery where he would sort out all the problems and do work on my back that would prevent any further problems. I decided on the elective surgery so was able to come home and see him in a months time.I contacted Julianna to inform her of a holiday that was imminent as the month was almost up and received an appointment within two days; she was kind and understanding and so efficient. In the clinic Mr A was so reassuring, explained all that he was going to do, showed us the MRI and talked about the success of this surgery. I have great faith in him and am not worried about the surgery ahead. He is a wonderful man, a skilled surgeon with such a nice rapport with his patients and such a caring attitude. I would recommend him highly.

I met Mr Arzoglou on the 13th July for the first time to review my MRI results which I had done on the 17th May. Mr Arzoglou explained my results to me clearly, although it is a lot to take in when you are informed of your results and prognosis. In order to hopefully put an end to my pain and discomfort surgery was advised. I've initially been given September as the month to be operated on, and this did make me start to ask all sorts of questions, with me working full-time and been very independent it did start to panic me, and I think nothing could of prepared me for been told you need to have 6 weeks off work to recover. My questions was coming out my mouth thick and fast, and Mr Arzoglou answered every one of them, without making me feel as if I was been a royal pain in the backside, which I appreciated. After I left I still thought of questions I thought I should of asked, which did make me think how helpful it would be for both sides, if we had a data sheet on all the commonly asked questions with the answers. Now I have purposely graded 2 out of the 3 opening questions as 1 star out of 5, mainly because I don't know Mr Arzoglou well enough to trust him, and cannot say I would recommend him at this point until I have successfully been treated, but can say without doubt that Mr Arzoglou listened attentively to me and answered appropriately.

I was dealt with as a very important patient, or that is how I felt. Everything was explained in great detail which inspired confidence in my surgeon. All members of staff were very helpful and nothing seemed to much trouble. Having had the surgery cancelled twice caused some concern, but the fantastic results achieved with the surgery made the wait worthwhile. Overall I was very happy with my experience and can make no useful suggestions on how to improve things. The surgery has transformed my life and I am most grateful.

It was the first time I had seen this this doctor he was polite and put you at ease stright away answered all my questions in great detail . And explained every thing that would be happening I would recommend him to anybody .
